Maintenance
Here's a little discussed but logical fact of septic systems:
All septic systems require maintenance to keep them working correctly and to ensure their long life.
No reasonable person would drive their car forever without changing the oil, and it's the same with septic systems. Solids build up in the septic or treatment tank, and those solids must be removed periodically.
Every system should be checked at least once per year to measure and confirm the solids levels, the integrity of the tank, baffles, pump, floats, and other components in the tanks. That would be the the minimum service frequency for a system using only a septic tank and a soil absorption field.
On the other end of the spectrum, aerobic treatment units should be checked much more frequently. The aerobic treatment unit is not able to produce quality effluent unless the aerator/compressor is operating correctly, and unless chlorine is kept stocked in the chlorinator at all times.
Every different type of system requires a different amount of maintenance, dependent on the components included in your system. We have a service frequency chart that provides guidance of the services and frequencies that are right for your system. Call our office or ask one of our technicians for your own copy of this guidance.
We answer your calls during and after hours, as well as weekends and holidays. Our only job is to provide you the service you need when you need it. Call us when you need us at (512) 338-1804.
